My Computer Crashed! Now What?
When your computer crashes, generally there are two immediate concerns: How soon can you make it work again? And, are all those pictures and documents you’ve got stored recoverable?
Yes, we can recover your data.
It’s that latter question that gets people excited, especially if they have no backup system. Yes, we can recover data from crashed computers 99% of the time. While we recommend a good backup system (and we can help there), we’re here for disaster recovery when needed.
If you suspect your hard drive is failing (you’ll see “blue screens of death” or an occasional “can’t find the start up disk”, among other signs), it’s important to let us know immediately. Chances of saving your data are better the earlier we can get to it.
Backup Systems
If something can go wrong it will. Your priceless pictures and other family or business documents will at some point become corrupt or lost. It happens to all of us.
All computers should have a good backup system, and our favorite is the belt-and-suspenders approach: a local backup to an external hard drive AND a cloud backup, which puts your data off-site. This way you have your data locally and accessible, but in the case of a fire or other casualty, it is also backed up elsewhere. Patient Computer Help can help you with both backup systems and data recovery.
